I exploded my "About Me" tab .

So while adding my two latest additions today, i exceeded my character count.
Honestly, i never considered that possibility that it would explode *rolls eyes*

Oh well, that just means it won't be growing anymore, and that any further additions will be added...

Top 3 Faves !

Because even a perfume addict needs favourites.

Miss Dior - Blooming Bouquet

Chanel - Chance Eau Tendre

Victoria's Secret - Bombshells in Bloom

I won't say much now but i'm very excited to write about the following perfumes! (:
Can't wait to share my thoughts on my absolute faves.
In fact, I've already written about Bombshells in Bloom in my previous post!

What's your favourite perfume?

Much loves,

Overindulgence .

This happened 3 months ago.

I was in a state of building a habit out of this routine ;

1. Smell a scent. ( "Oooh i like it !" )
2. Think about it non stop for the next few days (or day).
3. Scavenge for a great good enough deal.
4. BUY IT!

... & whether or not i open it to use immediately is an entirely different matter.

Well admittedly i still am doing that, but not purchasing a new scent every day now.
( that's a good thing right? right? )

So anyways.
I bought both perfumes in the same night.
On impulse obviously. But ooooh damn they smell DIVINE~

Night and Bombshells in Bloom by Victoria's Secret.

I bought both in 50ml forms, and until today i have yet to unwrap them (its almost like i'm satisfied just owning them. because if I'm tempted to buy a scent, i won't rest till I've purchased it)
And I honestly have too many perfumes.
I'm often worried about them expiring / turning, although thankfully that hasn't happened so far.

I do have a second bottle of Night though, and a very recent tester paper spritzed with Bombshells in Bloom, so i'm going to go ahead with my post (:

Lets start with Night.

Victoria's Secret - Night

Top Notes: Luscious Apple, Ocean Water Mist Accord, Jasmine Noir, Sparkling Lemon, Midnight Orchid, Dark Woods.
Middle Notes: Hamptons Beach Flower, Tiger Lily, Black Plum, Valencia Orange, Indigo Iris, Midnight Violet, Angel Flower, Purple Peony.
Base Notes: Dark Amber, Sandalwood, Velvet Woods, Bourbon Vanilla, Driftwood, Tonka Bean, Velvet Musks, White Patchouli, Black Raspberry.

Night sure has ALOT of notes.
Those that speak to me most are the luscious apple, black plum, and an array of exotic, lush flowers.

"Night is inspired by a Supermodel's night out. Provocative, warm, striking and sexy, its "tempting" notes embody glamour and intrigue."
- Victoria's Secret

Well, i wouldn't say "Supermodel's night out", but Night is definitely the embodiment of temptation.
It smells sexy even to women, and absolutely delicious.
It is a night time perfume, just as the name suggests, and i see the wearer to be confident, sexy and almost whispering "Come hither" with just her body.
A very beautiful and lux scent, more suitable for ladies and women than girls.
Sexy time approved. *winks*

~

Next up, Bombshells in Bloom.

( the beautiful Candice Swanepoel )
Can i just say, she is gorgeous!
A perfect Victoria's Secret Angel.

Victoria's Secret - Bombshells in Bloom

No hierarchy.
Notes: Pink Freesia, Water Lily, Red Apple.

Bombshells in Bloom is a spin-off from the best selling original Bombshells by Victoria's Secret, but i must say i like this one much better!

Perfect for spring and summer, Bombshells in Bloom is feminine, lighthearted, flirty and fun!
I absolutely LOVE this. Quite abit more than Night, i must admit.
Definitely in my Top 3 list. ( will do a post on this soon~ )

It smells really delicious and youthful, and i would highly recommend this to fruit lovers.
It's great even when the weather turns a little warmer, it won't get overpowering like muskier perfumes might.
The flacon is Gorgeous, and the scent is yummy and refreshing!

Total LOVE.

black like the soul of fame, but invisible once airborne .

"This perfume is black like the soul of fame, but invisible once airborne."

"I wanted it to be a very slutty perfume. Because that is the addictive nature of fame as it is, it is seductive."

"The actual smell is what I, Gaga, would wear to seduce someone."

"It would smell like an expensive hooker."

; quotes from Gaga on her perfume .

The scent i am referring to today is a very different scent, to be expected from a artiste who has never quite gone status quo.

Introducing, the first ever black fluid perfume ,

Fame by Lady Gaga

Fame doesn't abide by the usual hierarchy laws,
and doesn't use the pyramidal structure of a fragrance's composition.
(top, middle and base notes)

The fragrance has notes of “tears of belladonna, crushed heart of tiger orchidea with a black veil of incense, pulverized apricot and the combinative essences of saffron and honey drops.”

Fame adopts a "push-pull technology" / a "trampoline structure", and doesn't have a linear drydown.
This means that instead of the normal pyramid structure where notes come in one after another, (top notes, followed by middle notes, then base notes), in Fame, notes rise at different rates that are randomly propulsed by your skin and body heat.
Fame will smell different on different people. (this is because everyone has a varying body temperature and skin chemistry)
Some accords will come out if you rub it, and others will come out later.

"There is a different volatility for different notes, and they’re of differing strengths. They work together harmoniously, but then they undergo metamorphosis on the skin, so you’re constantly surprised."
Coty Beauty fragrance division, on Fame.

So basically, with Fame, the scent is built around three main accords:
Dark, Sensual, and Light.

The dark accord : Belladonna, the deadly nightshade, a poisonous flower that smells absolutely alluring.

The sensual accord : fusion of dripping Honey, Saffron and Apricot nectar.

The light accord : rich floral layer of crushed Tiger Orchid & Jasmine Sambac.

The 3 accords work together to create a fragrance of floral elements, with touches of sweetness.

  ~

Personally, i find this perfume a little of a disappointment.
Sure, on it's own it is a strong and luxurious floral, sweet and sexy, just perfect for night time.
& A must-have for Lady Gaga fans.

However, if you were to compare the outrageous superstar to her supposed Mother Monster perfume, i think it to be quite a let down.
I expected a POWERHOUSE, i really did.
Fame smells a little far from that.
I expected something else from Gaga, a different combination of scents.
I would agree with many other writers all over the net on this ;

"Fame is not concocted for perfumistas or avid scent lovers.
Fame is built for Gaga fans."

Because unfortunately, that is exactly what Fame is.

The "black liquid that sprays clear", "push-and-pull technology" and all are indeed a cool factor though.
Fame just doesn't call to me the way i would have liked a nice perfume to.
But it was a cheap and blind buy, so i guess it's still alright for me.
She just sits in my collection, waiting to be sold or swapped off.

PS; NO it doesn't smell like semen nor blood. It's not in the notes either. Gaga simply built her scents on the molecular structure of said components. Shock factor goes to Gaga, as always.

Extra ;; Oxidation / Tarnish Removal

Yes, seriously.
WHAT THE HELL, CHLOE.
You'd think, after having paid 2 bucks per ml of juice, your Chloe perfume bottle would stay in perfect condition forever.
But no, if you've ever bought a Chloe by Chloe you'd see that in mere months of unboxing, the beautiful metallic sheen of silver has been replaced with an ugly rust.

Some claim, "Oh it adds to the novelty feel" / "Maybe Chloe meant to let the bottle have a vintage / aged design."
I call BULLSHIT.
Chloe, you have yourself a huge hiccup here.
But whatever, i'm not about to rage my way to your headquarters, alright?
I'm here to provide all you rusty bottle owners, a solution.

And yes, thankfully, there is one:)

Things You'll Need:
- a Small Bowl
- a Small Saucer
- Aluminium Foil
- Salt
- Baking Soda (bicarbonate of soda)
- a Washcloth
- Water

Steps are simple, now follow me(;

1. Heat up some water till it is hot enough to brew tea, but isn't boiling.
(personally i simply boiled water in my kettle, and let it cool for a minute)

2. Lay the bowl with aluminium foil.

3. 2 teaspoons of salt, 2 tablespoons of baking soda, into the bowl.

4. Pour the heated water into the bowl. It should bubble a little.

5. Begin a 2 minute soak-off by placing removable parts of the tarnished bottle, into the bowl.
(cap, nozzle, etc. remember to remove the chloe ribbon!)

6. Lean the bottle of perfume so that the tarnished metal touches the mixture, adding more water if necessary. Soak for 2 minutes. Keep as much of the glass away from the water as possible.
(it wont taint the glass, but remember that perfume should be kept away from heat as much as possible)

7. Place 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda into the small saucer, and ready your washcloth. This will be your "after bath" scrub mixture.

8. After 2 minutes, remove your bottle, nozzle and cap from the mixture.
(you should already be able to see a difference in the tarnish)

9. Take your washcloth and dip a corner into the warm mixture. Dip that part into the scrub mix and work this paste into the remaining tarnish.

10. Rinse off and see if any more tarnish remains. If so, repeat till satisfied.

~

I'm not going to guarantee you that all the tarnish is going to come off, but i assure you that your bottle is going to look very different from it's previous state.

Here's a photo of mine after the cleaning process!

I think it looks absolutely gorgeous and i got most of it off, save for a few dark streaks at the bottom left corner.
It is a huge improvement from the above photograph i combined with the stock picture!

I've also used it to get some very minor tarnish off the caps of my YSL Babydoll and Lady Gaga Fame.
It is simple to use and takes you 30 minutes tops.

Let me know in the comments section if any of you have found it useful.
Till next time!

Jeanne Lanvin

Soft pink sheens and tulle ribbons adorned the beautiful vial that caught my eyes.

I swear, it is always, always, always the flacon and bottle design that entices me to take a sniff of a new scent. (Perfume designers take note)
That, and often the color of the juice.

I first met Jeanne Lanvin in the form of a pathetic small glass bottle stuffed with a scrap of napkin spritzed with a teeny serving of juice.
Ah, young love~
There was a little pushcart at my school, marketing scents at slightly friendlier rates for students.
I didn't grab my bottle there though, sort of found it still a little too expensive for an impulse buy.
(since i couldn't test the scent or anything, only inhale it out of a tiny vial)

But i admitted it there and then to my girls, i adored it.

Jeanne Lanvin - Lanvin

Top Notes: Blackberry, Lemon, Pear
Middle Notes: Peony, Freesia, Raspberry, Rose
Base Notes: Sandalwood, Amber, Musk.

Self-correction,
I loved it.

I bought it the moment i saw an opportunity for a steal deal online,
happily took her home,
and unboxed it.

I absolutely love the detail of the metal cap, the beautiful tulle ribbon, and the gros grain label.
And my, did i enjoy the juice!

It's a gorgeous scent.
Fresh, sweet and feminine, perfect for spring!
Fits well for a cheerful day, with light breezes and simplicity.
Another fruity-floral as usual, if you can't already tell, that's my preference in scents!:)

I totally recommend if you love something delicate and balanced.
The berries bring in an enticing array of flora with them, and it is definitely non-offensive and a crowd pleaser!
Suitable for everyday use, and longevity is great.
A youthful scent that turns slightly sexy on dry down, soft and simple, a must try. ;)

That's all i have for now, till next time!

Round and round she spins .

My first self-purchased fragrance,
was an impulsive and blind online buy.

What can i say, it was quite a cheap score, so i jumped at the chance.
I landed myself a bottle of 50ml in relatively pristine condition, with about 75% left.
It came without it's box, poorly packaged in some grungy sandwich bag, but i wasn't one to complain.
I was enchanted by it's multi-faceted flacon and sweet smelling, pink sheen-ed nectar.
I thought it was beautiful.
I do enjoy it till today, and it has been quite a compliment winner.

Yves Saint Laurent - Babydoll

Top Notes: Grapefruit, Orange, Redcurrant, Rhubarb, Pineapple
Middle Notes: Rose, Freesia, Lily of the Valley, Heliotrope
Base Notes: Peach, Grenadine, Cedar Wood, Tonka, Vanilla

I've realized my kinda scents are mostly fruity-floral, sometimes with hints of rose, as this perfume is.

I've tried a sample of Rosewater by Crabtree and Evelyn though, and ohmygoodness i detested it with a passion.
My nose wrinkled at the scent and i had to go scrub it off immediately. Smelled hideous.
Perhaps rose as a softer note smells fine to me.

Baby doll begins fruity, evolves to floral, and finally goes citrus-y after being left on for awhile.
And personally, i enjoy that citrus freshness that stays through the day.
For an Eau de Toilette the longevity is remarkable.
It's one of the few scents i'm keeping close to heart for now.

More next time!

"Daddy I Want"

Hahaha okay no, i didn't really say that, but i did convey the same message.

This was almost 2 years back.
I remember seeing the perfume online, and falling in love with the bottle.
At that point of time, i was clueless on perfumes, and hadn't seen any other perfume bottle apart from my previous post's Dream Angels Desire by VS.
I was captivated. What can I say? Desire had a relatively plain Jane flacon.

I believe it took me less than 2 weeks to acquire my bottle. *laughs* Silly me.
I can still recall that evening ;
My family and I were at Singapore's International Airport, Changi Airport, for dinner and some shopping.
(Shops at the international airport here offers tax-free prices)
After dinner, i dragged my dad (my mom followed, naturally), into the perfumery, and started sniffing perfumes. I didn't like any, except for this.

Juicy Couture ; Viva la Juicy - La Fleur

Top Notes: Wild Berries, Mandarin, Water Lily
Middle Notes: Honeysuckle, Gardenia Petals, Soft Jasmine
Base Notes: Vanilla, Caramel, Sandalwood

I was still after the gorgeous bottle, mostly, but i did enjoy the scent.
It was sweet smelling and uplifting, and my 16 year old nose loved it.
My dad agreed it smelled alright (in his words), and i pestered him to buy it for me.

He did.

I was this overjoyed kid. I loved it.
If i didn't recall a wayward figure it was $91 (Singapore Dollars) for my 75ml bottle.
I was pretty sparing with it's use and after every spritz i would keep the beautiful vial of flower liquid back in it's pretty pink box.
This went on till i got too lazy to take it out to use, and ended up only using it for lavish occasions, which wasn't too often.

I didn't quite understand "daily scent" back then.
Till today the bottle is still 95% full.

Now, i find it a tad too sweet for my tastes, and i haven't spritzed it since i acquired my newer perfumes.
More on them in the next post.

My Very First Perfume ;

It was my mother's.
A gift from her boss, if i do recall.
My mom never liked perfumes, and she dolled up lavishly only for posh occasions.

I first queried about it when i was 15, and she happily chucked it into my surprised arms.

Victoria's Secret ; Dream Angels - Desire
(discontinued)
Top Notes: Freesia, Magnolia, Ivy
Middle Notes: Yellow Plum, Pink Peony, Frangipani
Base Notes: Angelica, Woody Notes, White Musk

I must say, the first whiff was rather unbearable for me.
I detested the perfume when i was 15, i thought it to be way too strong.
Fast forward three years, and well, the initial blast still stings my nasal passage.
But a couple seconds later the scent evolves into something entirely different.
I can definitely smell the plum now, but unfortunately i'm not too apt at picking out most notes.
It simply smells fruity-floral to me, i guess.

It's a 75ml bottle, and is still half full.
I leave it amongst my collection for old time's sake, but although not a bad scent, it is far from topping my list.

My vial of Desire is quite an old one, and according to checkcosmetic.net, was manufactured 27 of January, 2006.
Under my care, it hasn't gone bad on me yet.
I do hope i'll never have to experience a perfume turning on me.

I'm afraid that's all i have to share for this scent, as i have the least memories of it.
More to come in my future posts.
